Whyte Avenue police doesn’t deserve ‘bravo’ from law-abiding citizens
Eighteen years ago, we decided to move our young family to Edmonton from Montreal. We wanted to get away from all the political garbage that is stilling going on there. We wanted our children to have a future. We chose Alberta. It was a good move, as this city was a beauty in every way. It had that small town feeling with a kinder, gentler lifestyle. Eighteen years later, I am appalled with the way this city is heading. Police State comes to my mind. Abuse of Authority comes to mind.

Police commissioner suggests city, province split bill for policing Whyte Avenue during the Oilers’ playoff run
EDMONTON - The cost of policing Whyte Avenue during the NHL playoffs has climbed to at least $2.2 million, almost double previous estimates, police chief Mike Boyd has revealed.
The tally had reached $1.4 million on June 9 but increased before Boyd had a chance to update the police commission on Wednesday night.

Brian Fish plans to file a formal complaint
EDMONTON - A 66-year-old lawyer says an Edmonton police officer Tasered him three times because he refused to stop taking pictures of a violent arrest on Whyte Avenue on Saturday night.
At 11 p.m., Brian Fish said he was taking pictures of a man thrown face down on the street and surrounded by police officers when another officer ordered him to stop and move back. He refused.

Two Edmonton Police Service officers charged with taking secret commissions from a photo-radar company accepted trips and free NHL games from the company, according to allegations contained in RCMP documents obtained by the Journal.
The search warrant documents relate to the RCMP investigation which led to charges against Staff Sgt. Kerry Nisbet and Sgt. Tom Bell.
