EDMONTON JOURNAL
EDMONTON – A judge has convicted two high-ranking Edmonton police officers of assaulting a citizen in his home.
Staff Sgt. Jamie Ewatski and Staff Sgt. John Fiorilli were found guilty this afternoon of assaulting Herve Dubois after they entered his home without a warrant to arrest another man four years ago. Ewatski was found not guilty of assault with a weapon. A third officer, Det. Terry Briscoe, was found not guilty of assault.
Provincial Court Judge Vaughan Myers said the officers knowingly trespassed on Dubois’s property and stayed there even after he demanded to see a warrant and told them to leave.
